GENERAL INFORMATION

SAFETY
After seven years of operation, we can testify that this is one of the safest and most peaceful regions of the country.

CLOTHES AND EQUIPMENT
The climate of the region is very pleasant. It is advisable to bring a sun protection product, a hat or cap for outdoor activities, and hiking boots. Other options are: binoculars if you are a bird lover, a good book for those moments of relaxation, and repellent if you are sensitive to insect bites.

CELL PHONES
Cell phones operate normally in the region; however, given the variations in the topography, the signal strength won’t be the best in some spots.

ALTITUDE
Hacienda Bambusa is 1100 meters (3600 feet) above sea level.

DISTANCES
The time to cover the distances from the hacienda to the various places of interest ranges from 15 minutes to 1 hour approximately; the trip from the airport to Bambusa takes between 20 and 30 minutes.

FLORA AND FAUNA
The 160 hectares (395 acres) of the hacienda are home to a very rich fauna and an extensive forest on the banks of the Quindío River and the Cristales stream. There is an abundance of bamboo guadua, caracolíes, and cámbulos (Spanish names), and an innumerable variety of fruit trees, palm trees, ferns, and orchids, in close coexistence with the fauna. Some of the mammals in the region are: the river otter, armadillos, pacas, anteaters, sloths, jaguarundi pumas, howler monkeys, night monkeys, among many others. And, as if that were not enough, you can watch over 100 bird species on the hacienda.

MEDICAL CARE
The closest hospital is in the city of Armenia, about 25 minutes away by car.
